WELL That didn't go as planned did it!!! 2020 was set to be my busiest year to date, living in Ibiza for the summer and multiple destination weddings spanning Italy, France, Greece, The Balearics as well as Brazil for a family wedding. I can officially say I successfully accomplished none of the above. It was a year of Pivoting (very much the red faced Ross Gellar moment, yelling "PIVOT" over and over again hoping for a different outcome). It seemed relentless and somewhat divisive in so many ways. I'm sure for most 2020 certainly won't be looked upon fondly for the hardship and pain that it created. BUT... While the year was pretty bleak for the most part, I somehow (still to my amazement) finished the year with 10 weddings, 6 incredible styled shoots, 9 features in the likes of Festival Brides, Rock My Wedding and Love My Dress and a very proud moment with... a double feature in Grazia!! While 2021 hasn't stepped out with it's best foot forward I have no doubt that I can achieve just as much, if not more and am so sooo excited to start working with my Brides and Grooms again. I want to share my optimism and give them the confidence boost they deserve to see in their weddings in spectacular style, regardless of the C word. If 2020 taught us anything, however cliche it sounds; Love Always Wins. Those 10 weddings I was a part of may not have been the 'Big fat wedding' originally planned, but they were some of the most spectacular and emotive days I have ever been a part of. Every couple agreed it was the best decision they made by taking charge of the situation, readdressing what the day was about and the meaning of their declaration to each other. It put perspective on how precious and unpredictable life is, and the thought of not marrying the love of their life wasn't a gamble they would have been willing to take/ put on hold (being married myself and having planned our wedding almost 6 years ago, I have no doubt in my mind that we too would have done exactly the same). Regardless of the countless times Boris threw a spanner in the works, my couples went ahead with their micro weddings and honestly they were so incredibly special. I know a small wedding isn't going to be everyones cup of tea and have always stood by the ethos of your wedding day is about what you and your partner want and not feeling the pressure to please everyone else. If waiting 2 or 3 years in order to take the pressure off or to have the big party is your thing then go for it. But I just want to share my experience of these intimate weddings and elopements which I do believe will continue to grow in popularity through 2021. And let me say.... small certainly doesn't mean less luxurious! Keep planning Ladies and Gents, we'll get there in the end. And ohhh what a day it will be when your time comes around! If you are still looking for a hair and/ or makeup artist my diary for 2021 was (back in December) almost fully booked for weekends... however it is in a state of flux at the moment with availability popping up here and there due to postponements so please do get in touch to discuss and I'll let you know if i'm free/ how I'm dealing with waiting lists and postponements.
